Parker is TWO!

Parker man-

You had a birthday yesterday.  You are TWO years old.  You prevented this birthday post yesterday because you are a demanding little monster who runs my entire life.  YOU ARE THE BOSS of this family.

I tried twice to sit down here and write and you flipped your ever living lid.  If I am at the computer, you think it’s time to watch "Signing Time," and frankly it’s getting obnoxious.  Listen, I love Rachel Coleman, But she is already constantly on the family room TV and constantly on Pickle’s TV, so I find it annoying that you think she needs to be on my computer as well.

I talked to your dad yesterday and told him that the only thing you NEEDED for your birthday, was for Rachel herself to come over in her yellow and orange jacket and sing songs to you all day long. If I had unlimited funds in my bank account, I would have called and offered her large sums of money to fly down here.  Your dad laughed and may have mumbled something under his breath to the tune of, I will make damn sure you never have unlimited funds……

I can’t believe you are two.  I can’t remember life without you, yet you’ve been acting like a two year old since day one.

We call you two-point-o (2.0) because you are newer, faster, version of Kate-Kate.  She is all attitude and you have seen her attitude and upped it about 3 mega bytes.  LORD help US!

I have always thought how lucky you last few babies are to have two full time parents, but I am seeing how extra easy that is to spoil you rotten and create absolute monsters.  I may be contemplating getting a full time job myself.

BUT when Signing time is playing on three screens and you have possession of my diet coke and my undivided attention.  Oh boy you are a JOY.  You are the cutest little shit I have ever seen.  You re so smart and learning so many new things and new signs and new words everyday.  You are finally starting to talk.  You say, thank you, no, mama, dada, baby, yes, dot com, and a lot of crazy talk. But you are starting to talk and I am thrilled. YAY!!

You can read.  Which I love.  Not books, but when the words on signing time come on the screen before it starts and without pictures, you know which one is coming on.  If it’s "time to eat," you sign "eat." If it’s "who has the frog?" You sign "frog."  You know all sixteen episodes backwards and forwards.  Unfortunately so do I.

Today we are having a birthday party at Scooters Jungle for both you and Pickle.  I hope you have a blast.

I love you little man.  You light up my life.  You have most certainly filled it with song!

Sorry this post is a day late, but without any help yesterday, there was no way to sit here sans Rachel and write this.  I hope you understand.

I Love you so much-

Mommy

a new sister

Parker is in love with this little peanut.  She has become the "VACUUM."  He even pitches holy fits when we don’t let him hold her. And by hold her, I mean CARRY HER, as in all by himself.  Like he thinks he can pack her around.  He scares me to death.  He LOVES her too much.   He takes his role VERY seriously.  Being a big brother is an important part of who he is.  He is going to be great at it.  Ellie and Sailor are lucky little girls. Here’s hoping they survive toddlerhood with Parker around.

dear parker,

Parker

To my sweetest Parker,

You do not talk….. at all.  You make a hell of a lot of noise, and sometimes we think we hear words, but nothing, even simple words, are coming out of your mouth. Is something wrong with you, or are you just a boy?  I have had enough kids at this point to know when I should start paying attention to this.  I am now paying attention and therefore blogging about it.  So when I am busy filling out all the paperwork for countless neuro-psych evals that I will fill out for you for the rest of your life, I will know, without a shadow of a doubt, that at 20 months you were NOT making normal 20 month old babble and/or attempts at language.

So tell me dear Parker, did we ruin you by immersing you in sign language, or did you just pick it up so quickly because you knew something we didn’t? You know and use more signs than Pickle does.  You continue to amaze us with your recall and multiple word signs.  I wish I knew if I over flooded your little brain with too much info to learn even simple "mama, dada" or if you simply "know" the words, know the meaning, and know the sign, and therefore don’t need to mess with vocalization.

You are smart.  VERY smart.  Today, you got the vacuum out of the closet, wheeled it onto the rug, unwound the cord, and attempted to plug it in to the outlet until Bronson caught you and yelled. You help dad cook every morning.   Unfortunately, you know how to turn on the stove, and the TV and the computer.  You can go in and out of the house, you let your sister out of time-out often.  You think you know how to drive the car and get pissed off if we don’t let you.  You run the dishwasher when we don’t want you to.  You start and stop my laundry when I forget to set the child lock. You start the tub and shower.  You are a maniac.  We don’t dare take our eyes off you.  But to ask you to verbalize your wants and needs, that’s like asking Charlie to stop barking.  It’s just NOT going to happen.

Sweet baby,

Can you talk?

love, mommy

Missing my baby

Posted by Sandi in Parker

I am missing Parker so much. Shaylee recorded this on her phone and sent it to me. I have watched it a dozen times. He thinks it’s funny when Shaylee raises her eyebrows. Go figure.

Parker’s firsts

Posted by Sandi in Parker

Shaylee made Toll House Cookie’s last night.  While her back was turned to the mixmaster, Parker got a stool and climbed on the counter and helped himself to the beaters.  I am just glad he only ate the beaters and didn’t turn them on.  I shutter to think about the mess and injury that child could have caused in a split second.  You forget how fast and able these "typical" kids are.  It blows my mind.

First Beater

This morning Parker man had his first swimming lesson.  Let’s just say, he enjoyed his first taste of cookie dough a hell of a lot more than his swimming lesson.  We will just leave it at that.
