Never a dull moment

Posted by Sandi in OC, mental illness

Just when things began to get under control in my life, our crazy neighbor, the one that wanted to run Warren G out of our neighborhood, and the one that screamed at Brandon about my "No on Eight" signs on my car, because "it’s Sodomy for God’s sake!" Yeah him, the one that is right next door to me…..

He came after Brandon tonight with fists flying, screaming at him, calling him a fucking idiot, all in front of our kids.

I was in the kitchen dishing up dinner when the doorbell rang.  Brandon answered the door and I heard him say, in his pleasant, Ned Flanders, voice, "Hi neighbor." So I figured all was fine.  Two minutes later, Jazzi, Kate, and Ty entered the kitchen to tell me the neighbors were being mean.  I hear this kind of crap all the time, so I am still dishing up dinner and listening half heartedly.  I say, "whose being mean?"

Jazzi said, "A grown up. He called dad a fucking idiot."

She had my undivided attention now!!!  I left the dinner sitting on the counter and ran out the front door.  Bronson, Shaylee, and a few other kids were standing outside watching our neighbor telling Brandon that he was going to "fuck him up."  another neighbor couple joined the scene and attempted to calm the situation down.  instead, crazy neighbor man called on nice neighbor man.

Things were getting exciting now.

Brandon is as cool as a cucumber.  He just turned and walked away and that pissed off crazy neighbor even more.

We went in the house with all the kids and discussed the bad words and rotten behavior that they had witnessed in an adult. Brandon explained that what the neighbor had done was against the law.  You may not threaten physical harm to anyone.  We turned in into a life lesson and talked about the proper way to handle disputes, whether they are with siblings, or friends, or neighbors.  Swearing, swinging, and threatening are NEVER okay.  We emphasized it all by reporting the crazy man next door to the COPS.  The kids loved that.

I hope we taught more than just our children a thing or two.

We will not be next door neighbors for much longer, but we have had three run ins with him in the two years we have been here. The guy who owns this house, Dave, got into it with him a year ago in LAX.  Crazy neighbor approached him to tell him that he had ruined the neighborhood by leasing this home to us.  Dave said, "What are you talking about? every person I have talked to around you loves The Bensons."

Crazy neighbor said, "You want to take this outside or in the ring?"

Dave was like, Holy shit dude you are a wack job!  (I’m paraphrasing)

My best guess about how all of this started, was when we first moved in, we allowed our children to play with the Warren G kids.

The crazy neighbor ran right over to make sure I knew that those kids were trouble.  I immediately get mama bear and think he is being prejudiced, and tell him, thank you for the concern, but I will decide who my children may or may not play with.

About a month later, Warren was arrested in LA over something,  and the only reason I know is because in my mail box, is the TMZ report printed out and left for me.  I was pissed!  Who in the hell cares if Warren is partying in LA.  His professional and party life do not have anything to do with his children playing with mine.  The report in my mailbox crossed the line in my book and bordered on Mrs Kravitz.

mrskravitz

Since he got nowhere with me, he approached Brandon, during the same week, to see if he would be more receptive.  He told Brandon that Warren was no good and we shouldn’t engage with him at all.  He told Brandon that Warren was a gang member, to which Brandon responded, "I am glad he has friends."

Crazy neighbor was unimpressed with us!  He screamed and yelled at Brandon in our driveway about being irresponsible and being bad parents.

And since that day, almost two years ago, he has despised us.

My prop eight rant is posted here if you missed it.

And tonight’s fight was over my children riding their bikes in a rut on his grass where his wife backed over the lawn.  According to him, my kids made it deeper and wider than his wife’s tire did.  and if Brandon doesn’t fix it or pay for it, he will "fuck him up."

Saddest part of the evening- His little girl, maybe a ten year-old, was outside watching the entire thing and kept saying, "Please stop Daddy." at one point when he was swinging his arms and coming after Brandon, she jumped in front of him, begging him to stop, and he picked her up and sat her down behind him.

My heart aches for this guy’s wife and kids.  If he comes that unglued over a little mud, I can’t imagine what he must do behind closed doors.

Best part of the evening- After he called me a fucking idiot, he told me he reads my blog!!

Hi Pat.  I hope you get the help you need for your anger management issues.

Any of you readers interested in moving in here?  We will be out by Tuesday.

stellar day *UPDATED*

Two kids peed their pants,

one kid broke his arm,

two kids got into a knock down drag out fight in my front room,

and none of these were related.  Just the children… The children are related.

More details later.  Now, I have to take Bronson to the airport.  He is going back to school and he isn’t very happy about it. He has been sicker than a dog all week.  It used to be easy to return him, because he loved Asheville so much. Today, he is dragging his feet and making me feel like telling him to just stay home for a few more days.  Being a mother to adult children SUCKS! I just want to make it all better and tuck him back in bed, but it doesn’t seem to be an option.  I have to let him go and do the right thing and I hate it.   Give me five two-year-olds any day of the week.  But one 18-year-old is kicking my ass!

UPDATED- Bronson is still home.  Thanks to Continental who had a broken plane.  Brons will fly out tomorrow.

We don’t need furniture

Posted by Sandi in Ellie

I took the little kids up to the new house today to measure windows for curtains.  Eliie enjoyed the wide open space so much, I think we should consider leaving the entire house empty and open a dance studio….  It would be so much cheaper than buying six sofas.

Shaylee loves her little sisters!  I love my girls!

Look at this face.  He is my golden boy.

These two dorks are on their way out the door to the grocery store.  I told them it wasn’t okay to dress like that for public. Stripes are for solids, not plaids and polka-dots.

I decided they could go, its not like anyone knows they are mine…..  Except my name is on my credit card!

Sorry kids, go change.

And they thought they were so funny.  Hunter laughed so hard he dropped his sister.

She’s okay.  Clearly the brain damage happened years ago.

We spent Thanksgiving pretending we didn’t have anymore to pack.  We went to the pool and had a game of baseball in the front yard.  It was a gorgeous day.  My kids were happy and playing together….  NICELY!  It was a perfect mom day.

Pickle doesn’t stay in our yard.  This is her being dragged from the neighbors house.  She isn’t allowed at Ellen’s anymore, after she beat the shit out of her when she tried to bring her back home to us last summer.  (notice Tang and Storm, they joined us for the game as well.)

She is signing "grass."   I have no idea why. It could simply be because I am sitting on it.

I hope you all had a beautiful Thanksgiving.  A big shout out, and thank you, to Hadley who took all the baseball photo’s this week.  I had my hands full with a very fussy, very chubby, Sailor.  Hadley took some great shots!

See you all next week from the new house.

Look who came home

Posted by Sandi in Brandon

after two long as hell weeks, my man is back.  I slept in this morning until 7:22 and it felt so good.  IMG_0387

He got here just in time to help us relocate to our new crib.

Updates will be sparse this next week.  We are in the midst of the move.

Parker and Pickle packing (say that ten times)

Posted by Sandi in Parker, Pickle

Parker has never had so much fun.  You all know how he likes to clean, well this packing stuff falls right in line.  He may be a little OCD.  This video is a mere 13 seconds long, but you get the idea. Parker and Pickle packed seven boxes of books.  We are packing up and getting ready to move.  It’s going very well with all the live-in help I have….. And you all thought I was nuts to have so many….  You can’t imagine how much I am saving doing this packing myself!

I may adopt a few more.

I could save myself even more time and money.

I HAD A BLAST!!

Posted by Sandi in blogging

It was a much needed break from the kids and a much needed dose of Suzanne and Ree. I have so much to say and only one hand to say it with.  (Sailor is only happy being snuggled tight and bounced against my boob.)  Suzanne and I had so much to catch up on that we spent the entire time talking and whispering and didn’t think the line for Ree was nearly long enough, so we went to dinner after and talked some more.  If you aren’t already reading Twenty four you must start today.  She is a riot!!

IMG_0266

We arrived at Borders at 3:00 and got our wrist bands on.  Ree came at 5:00 and the crowd, of 200 plus, cheered, and I welled up with tears.  I am such a boob, but I am so proud of her and can’t imagine what it must feel like to have gone from blogger to best seller!  Incredible and AWESOME!!

She let us ask her questions, so I raised my hand to ask how on earth she found time to blog with her crazy life, because I know she is busier than I am.  And she said, "Hi Sandi!  This woman has thirteen children." and the entire place turned around to see who in God’s name the crazy was.  But other than that, the entire evening was fabulous…..  and truth be told, even that moment was fabulous because I love that Ree knew who I was, and I am so proud of my tribe. (even though she shorted me two)  It was fun to brag about them throughout the wait in line.

When I finally got to sit next her and sqeeze her cute self, I asked her how on earth she remembered me and she said, "I read you Sandi."

"How do you have time to read me?"

and her answer to that was, "I love Pickle."

If it is possible, I love Ree even more.  She is a fan of Pickle and that is HUGE in my book!

IMG_0269

I met some very nice people waiting in line. (Hi Margaret!)  They said they would visit if I blogged about Ree.  I hope this counts.

Someone asked what it was like cooking for my crew.  I had to explain that I despised cooking and I was only here because I loved Ree.

And a HUGE thank you to Stephanie, who had the guts to approach a total stranger and say Hi. She introduced herself as a reader of Lucky Thirteen and wanted to let me know she was there.  I love my fans.  She was nervous and darling and I loved meeting her.

I had the best day!  Thank you Ree for the shout out and for coming to California.  It feels a little like Christmas.

The party was a blast.  I have as fun as the kids do.  That slide is fast and fun!

Shaylee arrived home late last night.

Brandon is still gone.

i am still in my house, debating what day to move, or if I can handle it without Brandon here.

I am going to LA today with "Twenty-four."  I love her and can’t wait to have a girls day out.  We are fighting the traffic and the crowds so we can attend Ree’s book signing.  I am so freakin’ excited I can hardly wait.
