Kate is the "New Blonde Daughter"

Posted by Sandi in Uncategorized

Kate brought me her work from school this morning and was so excited to talk to me about the “five quarters.”

I said, Kate, Are you learning how to count money?”
“No, mommy let me show you.”
She ran to her backpack and brought me a paper with Sight, Hearing, Touch, Smell, and Taste on it.
My brilliant daughter!  Five Senses (cents), Not five quarters.
This is the same child that wears Sun Scream and whose heart is beeping.  She is our new Hadley.

Update from the crazy house

Posted by Sandi in Uncategorized

Hunter is looking at boarding schools. We are in the very early stages and all of us, Hunter included, are trying to decide if boarding school is the best idea, and if now is the best time to go. He can always wait a year or two and try it then. He is in a fantastic school now, but he feels the need for a greater social life and more challenging academics. I am loving the straight A’s he is bringing me home on his report card and I am very concerned about what he will do when his anxiety sky rockets in the middle of the night, and Brandon and I aren’t right there.

Hadley can now open her locker!!!! YEA! We are so proud of her and her huge accomplishment. She is doing fantastic in middle school, She has more friends than she can count and she gets her homework done every day. She still loves me, and at this age, I chalk that up to a huge positive. Any minute she will decide I suck!
Colby’s soccer team is still undefeated. He is a huge competitor and a very big asset to the team. Brandon and Parker take Coco to his soccer games every Thursday and Saturday. Colby comes home grinning from ear to ear. He doesn’t mind the twice a week practice or the twice a week games. In fact he spent the one night he didn’t have practice, hanging out with the team. The coach took all the boys to see Cal State play. Coco loved it. I think soccer will remain a big part of his life.
Jayden is cycling through his famous mood swings. Currently the only thing good in Jaydens’ life is his teacher at school, and Parker and Ellie. He hates the rest of us. Hunter told me yesterday he is POSITIVE Jay Jay is bipolar. He probably is. Hunter certainly has the know how from years of therapy to provide a diagnosis.
Pickle is naughty as always, but she has gotten naughtier since Desi started working here. She loves to push her buttons. Even when Desi is dragging her to time out, Pickle is laughing the entire way. We are getting help. We applied for ABA through the regional center. It is a group that does Behavior adaptation therapy, and Behavior modification therapy in the home. I am counting down the days till the services begin. Maybe next month.
All the other kids are status quo. Just doing the everyday stuff they all do. All the kids are loving school and loving Nanny Desi. I am enjoying blogging minus the drama, still loving my laundry especially since there are cute little baby clothes to wash, and loving having two babies in the house to love. Brandon and I had a hard time sharing Parker. Now we both have a baby at all times. Brandon is still doing the same old stuff. Loving me, loving babies, cooking, cleaning, and shopping online, and following anything and everything that ESPN tells him to. What the life!

It’s raining in Southern Cal

Posted by Sandi in Uncategorized

We haven’t had a rain storm here forever.  We woke up this morning to thunder and lightning. It was awesome and it smells so good outside.  I wish I could post the smell and the sound so you can all enjoy it.

Brandon and I laughed how funny we thought people were when we first moved here.  They would get so excited to see the rain.  We were like, “You guys must be crazy.  We love constant sunshine.”   Now here I am two years later, not only excited about the rain, but standing in it to take pictures and blogging about the weather.  I must be a true California girl.  I wish Bronson and  Shaylee were here to enjoy it.  They complained all summer about the lack of weather we had in this part of the world.  I wish they could see it now.

First Bath

Posted by Sandi in Uncategorized

We were having a fantastic time relaxing and getting our pictures taken and SUDDENLY…….

Pickle turned on the jets and blew water EVERYWHERE!!!  All over the entire bathroom.  The water level wasn’t nearly high enough in the tub, so we were all sprayed.   It feels like time moves in slow motion when you are being sprayed in the face with water from God knows where.  It seemed like a full minute before Brandon could get the jets off, when in reality I am sure it was only 6 seconds.  Anyway, Ellie was fine, completely unfazed and Pickle laughed her tiny little butt off!  All in all we survived.  I am still finding water droplets in places water shouldn’t be, but once in a blue moon the bathroom probably needs a good hose down.

Tara

Posted by Sandi in Uncategorized

My sweet friend Tara came to play with me this weekend.  She came down because is it almost my birthday, and to meet Ellie.  Tara was my next door neighbor for six years and is still my friend in spite of it.  She is one of those friends that you can go without talking to for 6 months and pick up right where you left off.  She is a true, dear friend that I can honestly say has not just seen me go through hell, but walked right beside me through it to make sure I came out in one piece.
Tara loves my family and has been watching these kids grow up since 2000.  She brought all the kids a little treat and all but four of them remembered her from Utah. (Including the dogs.)

Calvin and Charlie went nuts when she walked in the door.  Dogs are so smart!
We had a blast, we got pedicures, we shopped, we watched my two favorite movies, we went to the Fish Market, Cheesecake Factory and Chili’s.  We even had a little botox party.  She stayed up late with me and we played “babies” with Ellie. (just like old times.)  We talked and talked and talked. And she folded laundry with me every time we came home.  I hope she gets down here more often.
Tara,  You made my weekend and my birthday.  Thank you for giving up a weekend with your family to come and be a part of mine.  I love you!

Kate and Parkers’ first meeting

Posted by Sandi in Uncategorized

My mom, and Kate’s mom, Ani, have been planning our marriage. They think we will be perfect together. And so far, I think they are right. I am liking what I’m seeing!

Look at her bow. This girl knows how to get a guys attention.
She isn’t cutting corners in the accessory department. She has some serious style.
Oh and look at her eyes. She has what it takes. I think our moms know what they are talking about.
Let me do the “war cry” so all the brothers know I am calling this little one my girl.

Now, I know that I am older than you so I will respect the fact that you can’t sit up on your own yet.

Girl, I can’t take my eyes off you. You are something else. So pretty, Gorgeous eyes and creamy skin.
But it’s what’s in your brain that matters the most to me. I am not like all those other guys out there.
I’m not, I promise.
Wait a minute……Did you hear that Kate? I think the paparazzi is on our trail. I can feel it.
I was right. I am gonna get this guy.
Give me that camera buddy or I will bust you up!

This is calling for a little paparazzi beat down!!!

A blast from the past.

Posted by Sandi in Uncategorized

I take Hunter, Jace and Hadley to school every morning,  Brandon stays home to get the kids on the busses.  I have been bringing my ipod lately and Hunter is in charge of finding the right songs for us to listen to on our 45 minute drop off.  We listen to all of his music, once in awhile he will give me something I know.

Today he got out of the car and with a big smile said, “Mom you are going to have a good ride home.  I put your ipod on a playlist from your past.  Have a good ride.  It will be a little blast from the past.”
The ipod spits out a song that I know. I am sure it is still on the radio.  The next song is the same, very modern.  I am not even sure I know it.  So I grab the ipod and see what I am listening to.  ”Music of the 90’s”  I laugh and think, this is my blast from the past?  Good Lord I think it is still the nineties.  This is music of today.  This is modern.  I quickly realize I am old.

The shit I deal with

Posted by Sandi in Uncategorized

Raising kids brings all sorts of shit to the table, some that you are prepared for, some that you never could be.  I was sitting here yesterday blogging away while the nanny was upstairs bathing kids.  Coco and Ty came down the stairs full speed (both naked of course) to tell me that Pickle pooped in the tub and it was big!

I got up and ran up to find Desi standing in the bathroom with a look of astonishment on her face. Pickle still in the tub, but no poop.
I said,  ”Desi did Pickle poop in the tub?”
She nodded her head and fighting the giggles, said “Yes, and then she picked it up and threw it.” She could barley make it out of the bathroom without giggling and mumbled under her breath. “I have never seen anything like it before.”
Well in that very quick conversation pickle pooped out a few more turds that I had to fish out. Brandon offered to help, but I told him I had been fishing for poop in the tub for seventeen years,  This was no big deal.  But I have never had a kid chase after the poop and throw it at the nanny.  I swear, raising Pickle feels, at times, like parenting a chimpanzee.  She is seriously special ed!
